A major challenge the Lake Shore boys lacrosse program faced this year was welcoming new players, both JV and Varsity, from a different school onto the team. This year the boys lacrosse program was combined with the Silver Creek High School boys lacrosse program.

“Getting used to the new players on the team took time but everything fell in line during the season,” said senior Basil Valliere.

While watching the boys on the field playing it may be hard to tell that they didn’t know each other. The chemistry on the team took time to form but it got stronger by the end of the season. It helped that most of the boys knew each other already from playing on travel teams together.

Brett Logan, a senior from Silver Creek, stated, “Honestly most of us knew each other from playing outside of school, which helped out. It didn’t even feel like I was joining a completely new team.”

Although the season didn’t end how the team wanted it to with winning 6 games and 4 losses but they still managed to make it to playoffs. They ended the play off game with a loss 13-7 against West Seneca East.

The team was able to work through the small problem and work through it together. Any athlete can agree that it can be challenging to play and adjust their game with new players. The boys worked hard, learned how to do adjust their game and were able to push through it this season.
